The Past

The blazer has its roots in the sport of rowing. The jacket was designed to keep rowers warm when in their boats during practice and competitions.

This original blazer is made from wool flannel fabric and metal buttons.

The Past

The blazer thanks its name to the "blazing red" color of the jacket worn by rowers as a windbreaker when in their boats. The garment is sported by (university student) rowers first based in Cambridge, England, followed by Ivy League universities in the U.S. and beyond.

Production was local and water is not unnecessarily wasted nor contaminated with toxic chemicals. 

The Present

All the ingredients in this dish are made from pollutive fibers. Toxic chemicals are found in the pesticides used to grow the crops, the textile dyes as well as the coatings. The price of this dish is heavily discounted. The farmers and garment workers earn less money for their work so the garment costs less. Bon appetit!

The Present

The blazer goes mainstream. To drive down production costs, cheaper materials are sourced and sweat shops are hired for manufacturing the product for fast fashion brands. Polyester, acrylic, nylon, viscose, rayon, elastane, make for cheap and non-biodegradable ingredients to make this dish.

The design of the blazer is a knock-off or worse, a pattern stolen from an emerging designer. Authentic creativity is a luxury not included in the present. Cloth as found in cultural craft communities is copied without seeking consent, giving credit, nor financially compensating these people.

No credit is given where credit is due. We do not know who made this jacket. We do not know who made the fabric. We do not know if the workers enjoy their work. Fashion is a negative sum game.

The Present

Thousands of liters of water go into the production of the blazer from fiber to final. The water is colorfully contaminated thanks to dyeing it in this season's trend colors. Cheers!

The Future

The fibers in this dish come from regenerative sources like a biodynamic farm based in The Netherlands. The yarns are treated with non-toxic chemicals in strict compliance with Cradle to Cradle Material Health guidelines. 

The Future

This blazer is 100% compostable. Every fiber in it is organic and in compliance with principles of Green Chemistry. The design is original, from the mind of an avant-garde fashion designer paving the way to the future of fashion. All stakeholders in the supply chain are paid a living wage and above. Credit is given where credit is due. The blazer is made by happy hands who take pride in their work. Fashion is a positive sum game.

This is clean, drinkable water. None of the minerals have been contaminated; they are pure.
